Firstly we would like to thank Mr and Mrs Richard Compton for their kind permission to hold The Yorkshire Game Fair in the beautiful parkland estate of Newby Hall.
We are delighted to be holding our event at Newby Hall which was designed by Sir Christopher Wren and is home to some of Britain's finest Robert Adams interiors. Newby Hall also has a wonderful collection of Chippendale furniture and acres of award winning gardens which includes one of Europe's largest double herbaceous borders.
The Compton family have a rare honour of being granted permission to add the royal lion to their standard. Henry Vlll granted this to Sir William Compton in 1512.
In world war ll, Newby Hall was reserved for the royal family in case of evacuation in a plan called Coats mission.
Newby Hall is a grade 1 listed country house on the banks of the River Ure at Skelton-on-Ure, Near Boroughbridge, North Yorkshire.
The Yorkshire Game Fair is looking forward to our sixth annual event. We believe there is something for everyone at our event and are pleased to say we are holding our admission price for the fifth year running.
2013 sees the introduction of Equestrian competition and Junior Gun dog test championships as well as new arena displays. Not forgetting our old favourites like the fabulous Field Kitchen and Devoted to Dogs section which have again expanded. Not content to sit on past successes, we strive to make your visit to us a special one whilst aiming to stay firmly rooted in our passion for Field and Country sports.
Please browse the website for an insight into some of the great competitions, displays and features.
We look forward to seeing you in May!
